Hadriel Audio Guide
How to Use This
Hey. This is Charles Yvry, and if you know that name from anywhere but here, I want you to stop reading this and call me right now. Otherwise, keep going.
Welcome to Hadriel I guess. This is a guide to all the shit that goes on here, some of the people, what’s happened and what’s happening now. It’s in audio format, so just open what you want to hear about. Think of it like an encyclopedia, but less boring. The first three are the most important.
If you’re deaf or you can’t hear very well, just text me, I’ll send you a transcript. If you can’t read, just listen to everything. If you can’t see, uh, I don’t know, call me, we’ll figure it out.
If you've got any ideas for shit I didn't cover, let me know.
That’s it I guess.

What's Hadriel
Right, let’s start here. Hadriel is the city you’re in right now. There's no native population, it's just us, that being the people who got stuck here by this thing called the Door. It pulls in people from different worlds, but we’ll get to all that later.
Some quick Q and A. Yes, you’re stuck here. No, you can’t go back through the Door. No, no one picked you on purpose, you’re not special. No, you’re not dead and this isn’t the afterlife. Or maybe you are dead, but this still isn’t the afterlife.
With that shit out of the way... Hadriel’s not like a normal city. Food shows up randomly in the stores, and you don’t pay for anything, you just take it. The houses have water and plumbing and stuff. You just pick a place no one lives in and claim it. Everything you need to survive is provided by these people called the gods. We’ll get to them later, too.
Basically, get comfortable, you're not going anywhere fast. Oh, and try to stop freaking the fuck out. There's a lot to freak out about, but it's gonna be fine. Probably.
How to Not Die Here
The good news is though, if you do die, Hope can revive you. But just don't die outside the city, we'll have to drag your ass back or you'll get left behind next time the city moves.
Where Shit Is
The Clinic is next to the guard headquarters, close to the Coliseum.
The Coliseum is where you started.
The Armory is on the south side of the city.
Houses are everywhere, just look for an empty one.
The Lab is close to the Coliseum, too.
Stores are everywhere.
There's a Speakeasy, a place you can drink, and it's out by what used to be Delight's temple, toward the center of the city.
One more thing, there's a place on the far west of Hadriel that's covered in fog. Don't go there. You'll fucking die, probably.
Other Worlds
The Door
The Door I guess is kind of like, part of a god? But like a super ancient god. It's a living thing, but it just kind of does what it's programmed to do, like a robot. Sorrow knows how to use it, but he can't control it exactly.
Apparently it likes chaos. So congratulations on being part of that. It's also really bad for your health, so don't try to dig it up.
Vanishing and Returning
I went home, I forgot all about this place, and I lived out the next few weeks of my life. Then suddenly I'm back here, and I remember everything. But when I went home, it was like no time had passed.
I don't know how to get home and stay home. That shit's beyond me. Maybe you'll be lucky, maybe you won't.
The Gods
The gods are the other reason you’re here. They turned on the Door that dragged you through to Hadriel. Anyway, this is the part a lot of people aren’t gonna like.
The gods aren’t really gods, they’re just some species that feeds on emotion and has like, crazy magic powers. In order to survive, they have to make us feel emotions so they can gain energy from it. They feed on the emotion they’re named after. When they screw with our heads and make us feel things, we call it an event.
Most people seem to not like the gods because they cause the events, but to be honest, I can’t hold it against them. There’s only seven of them left out of a whole species, and they gotta eat. It’s not really a good situation for anybody.
Anyway, I wouldn’t advise fucking with them because they’re basically as powerful as their name implies, and you’d get destroyed.
Fear
Anyway I guess back when people first came to Hadriel he was really shit at scaring them and it was hilarious. Now he's a lot better at it, so that sucks, but whatever. He's kinda sarcastic but at least he talks to us sometimes.
He's the guy who teleports the city, or he did until they started using the Door.
Hope
Anyway, he's been here since the beginning, like Fear. He's the one who brought back all the other gods except Fear. Back when the Null attacked, he almost fuckin' died, but people managed to protect him, and he recovered.
Seems like the nicest out of all of them. I think he actually likes us.
Rage
Rage was the first one to be revived by Hope after people started getting pulled into Hadriel. She had a thing with Delight, so I guess she's probably not happy about what happened. Trust me, I'm not either.
Delight
At some point the city got stuck half-teleported, and the Null, we'll get to them, they attacked the half that got stuck. Delight made a deal with them, so she joined their side in exchange for the Null backing off. Well, they didn't back off forever. They came back, invaded, and Delight turned on the other gods and killed one of them. Thankfully, I guess, we got Sorrow back thanks to Hope, but Delight was still a traitor.
She got locked up, and when Tranquility got caught by the Null, we agreed to trade her for him. I was part of that decision, and I don't regret it. But shit went south, she attacked the Null, and she got killed. On their turf. So she can't come back.
According to Sorrow, she was afraid of dying more than anything else. She would rather be imprisoned by the Null forever than die, until she changed her mind there at the end. Glad she did but, I don't know, it didn't change anything.
Sorrow
Back when the Null invaded, he got killed, but Hope brought him back. Since then he's been working on Door shit. He's a little harder to get info about than the others, mostly keeps to himself. According to certain sources, he's the hottest.
Tranquility
Back in the day, I guess he was the liason between the gods and the Null. Wonder what happened there. Anyway, he got caught by them when Sorrow tried to use the Door to move the city instead of Fear. We agreed to trade Delight for him, and we did get him back, so he's alright now.
Confusion
As far as I know she hasn't been captured or killed or anything, not since the city started taking in new people. So hey, good for her. Anyway I guess she builds things, like defense systems. She's friends with Tranquility.
Love
Anyway, Love was the last god that Hope revived, and they seem really fascinated by us. They talk really loud all the time, and type in all caps. A lot of people seem to hate this one? Not sure why, but then I haven't been here as long as those people. They seem alright to me.
Events
Some of the stuff I’ve heard about was worse, like I said. People turning into cannibals, ghosts, and having a whole false life implanted in your head. Yeah. This is why some people don’t like the gods.
Events happen about once every month, or what would be a month where I’m from. Thirty days, give or take. Sometimes they happen more than that. Sometimes you’ll be immune to one and not another, sometimes you can resist it, and other times you can’t. We don’t get warning ahead of time. It is what it is, so get ready.
The Null
They're eight-foot metal assholes who can change shape, and they think emotion is a weakness. Their goal is to wipe out the gods, and probably us, too. We're their food source, after all, and we've all got emotions, probably.
Apparently a long time ago, they used to be living beings, but over time they turned themselves into metal and got rid of everything they considered a weakness. Which, like I said, included emotion. So when they met the gods, and the gods caused emotions, they decided to launch a genocide campaign. Seriously, these guys are bad fucking news.
[Name]
I don't know where it is, but I guess it's in the city somewhere? I'm not sure what happened there. The gods wanted people to turn it in, but nobody did as far as I can tell. Anyway, sometimes it messages us on the network.
Null Weapons
But the most dangerous thing they have is a weapon that can kill gods. Yeah, you might not like the gods, but think about trying to live here without them. Apparently they gave these weapons to people during the invasion who sided with them, so there might be some in the city still. Hard to say.
History Lesson Part 1: Pre-Null Invasion
Okay so, this is gonna be short and sweet because I hate history. I'll give you the gist but I'm not goin' into details.
A long time ago the gods and these things called the Null got along. Then they didn't. The Null started a genocidal campaign and wiped out all but two of the gods, Hope and Fear. These two found the Door and used it to bring in people like us, so they could survive.
Fast forward, and Hope's able to bring six other gods back to life. Everything's goin' on as usual with events and shit, and then one day, the city gets cut in half. Half of it gets invaded by the Null. It turns out Fear had been teleporting the city every so often, just underground. This was to stay away from the Null.
Only this time, obviously, that didn't work. Delight, the goddess, makes a deal with the Null to spare everyone in exchange for Hope's death. So the city is whole again and things go on as normal as they can in a place like this. But like, of course that shit didn't last.
History Lesson Part 2: The Null Invasion
So most of them sided with the gods.
The Null invaded, and it was a huge fucking battle. Lasted for days. Lots of people died, even Sorrow died. Hope almost died. Delight was eventually captured, and the city was moved to cut off the Null army. The rest of them were cleared out of the city, and technically the battle was won by our side.
But the Null didn't give up, because of course they fucking didn't.
History Lesson Part 3: Post-Invasion
Recently, on one of these planets, people dredged up some fragments of the Door, which they thought would make it work better. Sorrow fucked around with it some, and tried to use it to teleport the city, but that didn't work as planned, since it teleported us without the gods. They all made their way back except Tranquility, who got captured by the Null.
The Null made us an offer: Tranquility for Delight. There was a vote. We decided to go for it. But Delight had other plans, I guess. She attacked the Null, got Tranquility free, but then wound up dead herself. Like, for good.
So that's where we're at. The city has to move again because the Null can trace Delight's pieces back to us.
The Original Hosts
So a little later, people started going out on expeditions to find some old Null bunkers. Inside they found out that these creatures were the gods' original hosts, the ones the city of Hadriel was probably built for. The Null took some to study and basically fuckin' tortured them, then left them here.
Some people caught one and made friends, so now they aren't attacking us anymore, but now Hope wants us to catch them all so he can help them.
